On the 6th, the Yemeni government forces reported that the Houthis attacked military camps and positions of the government forces in the eastern provinces of Marib and Hadramaut, resulting in at least 35 government soldiers dead and dozens injured. An anonymous official stated that the Houthis used drones, ballistic missiles, and other weapons in the attack. Some of the injured are in critical condition, and the death toll may continue to rise. The Yemeni emergency forces indicated that the attack occurred after government forces conducted security operations against criminal networks and smuggling groups in the area. The Houthis have yet to comment on the attack. Marib province is a critical stronghold for government forces and a major oil and gas production area in Yemen. The Houthis have made several attempts to advance towards the provincial capital and have engaged in fierce combat with government forces there.
