In Guangzhou, the mortgage interest rate for housing loans from banks can be as low as 2.7%. Analysts: This resembles a "price war" aimed at specific groups.
Currently, most cities have lifted the lower limit on housing loan interest rates, but they remain above 3%. In Guangzhou, some banks had previously lowered housing loan rates to below 3%, but subsequently raised them back to 3%. However, HSBC's Guangzhou branch stated that the minimum housing loan interest rate could go down to 2.7%. "In the future, the personal housing loan interest rates of banks are generally unlikely to decrease; 3% is basically the bottom line. It can only be said that a rate of 2.7% can be offered only to certain specific clients," said Yan Yuejin, deputy director of the Shanghai E-House Real Estate Research Institute, to reporters. He noted that such a minimum interest rate threshold is very high and cannot be enjoyed by everyone, resembling more of a "price war" aimed at specific groups.
