On August 1, the humanitarian action coordination center established by the Houthi movement in Sanaa denied rumors about plans to impose a toll for passage through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, stating that passage through the Strait is completely free. The coordination center issued a statement emphasizing that the security passage services it provides to vessels are entirely free of charge, and all vessels outside the prohibition area can pass safely. The statement also provided an email address for vessels to apply for security passage services. It stressed that any individual or entity requesting payment from vessels for passage through the Bab al-Mandab Strait does not represent the Yemeni side.
