Musk calls on AI companies to work together to self-regulate safety issues, for which they can set aside personal feuds with Ultraman.
Musk stated that he hopes the most advanced AI models will be reviewed by peers before they are released, rather than being reviewed by the government. In an interview with The Economist's editor on Thursday, Musk said: "The most direct thing we can do is to have leading AI companies hold meetings every few weeks to discuss security and privacy issues." Companies can obtain new models for review one to two weeks in advance, "supervise and constrain each other among peers." Only when a company reports security risks without taking action should the government intervene. Musk admitted that cooperation between leading AI companies requires him and OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, to set aside their differences. "Ultimately, if communication is necessary, we will sit down and talk. For the benefit of the world, let's put personal differences aside for a while."
