According to The Wall Street Journal citing sources familiar with the matter, BlackRock is leading a debt financing of at least $12 billion for its jointly supported Texas El Paso large data center project with Meta Platforms. Sources said BlackRock and its infrastructure and private credit division hold an 80% stake in the data center project, while Meta Platforms, which will use the data center, holds the remaining 20% stake. The park is expected to have about 1 gigawatt of computing power capacity. Sources said JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley are leading this large-scale debt issuance for project financing and are in talks with other potential investors. Over the past year, BlackRock has continued to invest billions of dollars in data centers through collaborations with AI hyperscale cloud service providers, including a $40 billion acquisition of Aligned Data Centers. Sources said Meta also recently agreed to lease an under-construction Aligned Data Centers large data center project in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
