Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answers questions from reporters regarding the nationalization of British Steel by the UK government.

According to the Finance APP, the Ministry of Commerce stated on July 17th that the Ministrys spokesperson answered questions regarding the nationalization of British steel by the British government. The spokesperson stated that the British side, in the name of national security, forcibly took over and subsequently nationalized British steel, disregarding the important contributions made by the steel industry to the British economy and society. This seriously damaged the legitimate rights and interests of the steel industry and severely undermined the confidence of Chinese companies investing in the UK. China urges the British government to abide by relevant international rules, fulfill obligations under the China-UK Investment Protection Agreement, and treat Chinese-funded enterprises in the UK fairly and justly, fully safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests.
