Wang Huning attends the 65th anniversary reception of the signing of the China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
On July 16, Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a Chinese party and government delegation to make a formal friendly visit to North Korea. In Pyongyang, he attended a reception commemorating the 65th anniversary of the signing of the "China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance" together with Park Tae-sung, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Vice Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, and Prime Minister of the Cabinet of North Korea. Wang Huning said that 65 years ago, the older generation of Chinese and North Korean leaders signed the treaty, which laid an important political and legal foundation for consolidating the fighting friendship between the two peoples. Over the past 65 years, both sides have upheld the spirit of the treaty, supporting each other, working together, and struggling side by side, continuously consolidating political mutual trust, advancing with the times in exchanges and cooperation, deepening strategic cooperation, vividly interpreting the distinct features of generational friendship, shared destiny, and mutual assistance between China and North Korea. China is willing to work together with North Korea to resolutely implement the important consensus reached between General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un, take the opportunity of jointly commemorating the 65th anniversary of the signing of the "China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance" to promote the fine traditions and firmly grasp the direction of China-North Korea relations; deepen exchanges and mutual learning, continue to enhance the well-being and friendship of the two peoples; demonstrate a sense of responsibility for the times, and work together to promote regional and global peace and stability. Park Tae-sung expressed that since the signing of the "China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance" 65 years ago, it has made significant contributions to promoting the development of North Korea-China relations and the socialist cause of both countries, as well as maintaining peace, stability, and security in Northeast Asia. Today, we are solemnly holding this commemorative event to fully demonstrate the treaty's strategic significance and the strong vitality of North Korea-China friendship. North Korea is willing to follow the important consensus reached by General Secretary Kim Jong Un and General Secretary Xi Jinping, continue to promote the spirit of the treaty, constantly strengthen the socialist-oriented North Korea-China relations, and together write a new chapter in the friendship between North Korea and China. During the event, North Korea performed classic songs praising the friendship between China and North Korea. Wang Dongfeng attended the event, with about 200 people from both China and North Korea participating.
