Bank of America: SK Hynix's new capacity in 2028 may only be one-sixth of its planned capacity.
On July 14 local time, Bank of America released a report stating that due to technological upgrades leading to the closure of old plants, the actual annual wafer production capacity growth rate in South Korea will be less than 10%, far below the official goal of doubling by 2030. SK Hynix's additional memory production capacity by 2028 may be only one-sixth of the original plan. In addition, the construction and equipment installation period for Samsung and SK Hynix's new large wafer plants in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do may be extended to ten years.
