Typhoon "Bavi" will affect the northern waters of our country. The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds us to guard against the risk of seawater backflow.
Typhoon "Bavi", the 9th typhoon of the year, was located in Anhui province this morning and continues to move in a north-eastern direction, affecting the northern waters of China. The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center has issued orange storm surge warnings and blue wave warnings. It is expected that from the morning of the 13th to the morning of the 14th, there will be storm surges of 40-80 centimeters in the southern coastal areas of the Liaodong Peninsula, and storm surges of 30-70 centimeters in Liaodong Bay, Bohai Bay, Laizhou Bay, the Shandong Peninsula, and the northern coastal areas of Jiangsu.
In accordance with the "Emergency Response Plan for Marine Disasters", the Ministry of Natural Resources initiated a level four emergency response for Tianjin starting at 9:00 on July 13, maintained a level three emergency response for marine disasters in Liaoning, and level four emergency responses for marine disasters in Hebei and Shandong. The emergency response for marine disasters in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Fujian was lifted. The Ministry of Natural Resources has requested that the marine departments of Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Shandong, and other affected provinces, as well as the National Marine Technology Center, the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center, the National Marine Information Center, the Marine Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Satellite Marine Application Center, and the North Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, organize emergency monitoring, consultation, forecasting, warning, disaster investigation, and evaluation work.
It is advised that ships at sea return to port for shelter in a timely manner, patrols of coastal dikes, sluices, and other facilities be strengthened, weak and dangerous sections of dikes be reinforced to resist potential backflow of seawater, and every effort be made to ensure the safety of coastal residents' lives and property.
