Omdia: Component costs continue to rise, polarization of storage configuration in smartphones intensifies.
With the continuous increase in storage costs and the increasing financial pressure, smartphone manufacturers are further reducing their entry-level product lineup and tilting their product portfolio towards higher-profit mid-to high-end models. At the same time, in order to meet consumers' expectations for improved performance of high-end products and support the retail price increase, high-end and flagship smartphones continue to increase their storage capacity. Jusy Hong, senior research manager at Omdia, said that this differentiated product strategy will further exacerbate the polarization of storage configuration in the smartphone market this year: high-end models will continue to increase storage capacity, while entry-level models face a trend of downgrading storage configuration.
