On July 2nd local time, Microsoft announced a $2.5 billion investment to create Microsoft Frontier Company, providing cutting-edge transformation services with artificial intelligence to global customers. Microsoft's Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff stated that Microsoft Frontier Company will surpass the so-called FDE and become the industry's largest, most powerful, and results-oriented engineering organization. Microsoft plans to deploy 6,000 industry and engineering experts to client companies to jointly design, innovate, deploy, and continuously improve large-scale artificial intelligence systems based on measurable business outcomes. Microsoft is keeping up with its competitors' pace. Two days ago, Amazon announced a $1 billion investment to create an FDE team, and two days later Microsoft increased its investment to promote the landing of AI in business scenarios. The domestic FDE position is now entering its peak period. In the first half of 2026, the number of FDE-related job postings on the Maimai platform increased by 21 times year-on-year. Among the companies posting FDE positions, 49.3% have more than 1,000 employees, and 37.3% are AI-native enterprises.
