The Ministry of Emergency Management has initiated a national level IV emergency response for geological disasters in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan.

According to the meteorological department's forecast, influenced by Typhoon "Mekkhla" (the 10th typhoon of the year), there will be heavy rain from July 3rd to 6th in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan. The Ministry of Emergency Management and the Ministry of Natural Resources conducted joint consultations and risk assessments, determining that there is a higher risk of geological disasters in the southwestern part of Guangdong, central and eastern parts of Guangxi, and southern parts of Hainan. In accordance with the "National Emergency Response Plan for Geological Disasters" and relevant regulations, the Ministry of Emergency Management initiated a level four emergency response for geological disasters in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan on July 3rd. The Ministry of Emergency Management has required that relevant areas experiencing heavy rain must effectively carry out measures for prevening and responding to geological disasters, clarify the responsibilities of local authorities, implement departmental coordination mechanisms, closely monitor rainfall, flooding, geological disaster risks, and enhance coordination, assessment, and response mechanisms. Pre-position rescue forces, materials, equipment, strengthen inspection, investigation, monitoring, and warning response, decisively organize evacuation to ensure timely and maximum prevention of casualties.
