Wahaha tea drink has been issued an "import alert" by the FDA in the United States. An informant responded that it was due to the unauthorized export actions of the distributor.

Recently, a "import alert" document disclosed by the US FDA showed that a "red tea and lemon flavored tea" beverage produced by the Wahaha Group on April 6, 2026, tested positive for saccharin. On July 3, a source close to Wahaha disclosed to reporters that this product fully complies with China's national food safety standards, and that the incident was the result of unauthorized private export by a distributor, not an official action of the company. Wahaha is currently conducting an internal investigation.
