After the impact of rising fuel prices, Australians are rushing to buy electric cars.
The soaring cost of fuel has driven the growth of electric car sales in Australia. The industry organization Electric Vehicle Council stated that in June, electric cars accounted for 35.8% of total new passenger car sales, with the Tesla Model Y becoming the most popular car in the country. Pure electric cars made up one quarter of total car sales that month. The organization reported that sales of the Tesla Model Y reached a record 8,072 units in June, surpassing the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.
