Chris Turner of Dutch International Group stated in a report that if Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Wash focuses on price stability during his speech at the European Central Bank Forum in Sintra, Portugal at 1300 Greenwich Mean Time, the dollar should remain strong. At his first meeting as chairman in June, he stressed the importance of returning the inflation rate to the 2% target. Since then, data has shown a 3.4% increase in the core personal consumption expenditure price index, along with a strong jobs report. Turner said resisting market expectations of a rate hike "would be surprising," and his comments have brought "upside risks" to the dollar. The DXY dollar index rose 0.2% to 101.357, and Dutch International Group believes that, influenced by Kevin Wash's comments, the index could return to 101.700-101.800.
