The eastern German city of Leipzig announced on the 28th that the city's tram service would be temporarily suspended due to damage to the tracks in high temperatures. The Leipzig transportation department stated that the high temperatures caused the sealant between the asphalt and concrete in the track bed to expand, making it unsafe for the trams to travel. All tram lines in the city will be suspended until 3:30 a.m. on the 29th. The transportation department will try to ensure that bus services continue as normal.
