New standards for automobile safety have been introduced. The side impact collision standards for cars have been upgraded to the strictest levels in 20 years.
Starting from July 1st, China will implement a batch of new national standards for car safety collisions. Among them, "Passenger Protection in Side Collisions" is the most stringent collision safety standard upgrade in nearly twenty years. Experts introduced at the China Automotive Technology Research Center's Car Safety Test Laboratory that in the new national standards, the quality of the side collision test crash dummy vehicle has been significantly increased from 950 kg to 1400 kg. In addition to the high standards of the new national standards for collisions, starting from July 1st, two mandatory national standards, "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicles" and "Safety Requirements for Power Battery for Electric Vehicles," will also be officially implemented. Among them, the criteria for determining thermal runaway of power batteries has been raised to "no ignition, no explosion." The new national standard also defines "one-key power-off" as a physical power-off device for the first time, completely replacing the previous software-controlled power-off method.
