China COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, in partnership with Shell and Jiangnan Shipbuilding, has signed a contract to build four 175,000 cubic meter LNG carriers.
On June 25th, the signing ceremony of the project for 4 175,000 cubic meters LNG carriers cooperated by COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, Shell, and Jiangnan Shipbuilding was held in Shanghai. The LNG carriers in this project adopt a new generation of large-scale double-skeg innovative design, significantly improving the hydrodynamic performance of the vessels. They are equipped with the latest WinGD XDF 2.2 main engine using LNG as the primary fuel, integrated with iCER and VCR technology, low methane escape generators, optimized shaft generators, and re-liquefaction systems among other advanced equipment. These features not only reduce fuel consumption but also significantly reduce carbon emissions and methane escape. The carriers have the characteristics of low comprehensive energy consumption, high low-temperature performance, and strong cargo capacity. Their technical performance, environmental protection indicators, and reliability all reach world-class levels.
