An earthquake off the coast of Honshu, Japan has injured six people.
At 6:30am Beijing time this morning, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the eastern coast of Honshu, Japan, with a depth of 50 kilometers. Strong tremors were felt in multiple areas of northeastern Japan. The earthquake has already caused at least 6 injuries. There is currently no risk of a tsunami. As a result of the earthquake, the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train service between Sendai Station and Shin-Aomori Station was temporarily suspended. Tohoku Electric Power Company reported no abnormal conditions at the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant in Miyagi Prefecture and the Higashidori Nuclear Power Plant in Aomori Prefecture.
