Institution: fluctuations in Gulf stock markets, market focus on US-Iran ceasefire agreement.
The Gulf stock market closed with mixed gains and losses, with investors focusing on a possible temporary agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war in the Middle East. The agreement is expected to be signed on Friday, signaling a potential breakthrough in this war that has disrupted the global economy. Aqib E. Mehboob, research director at BFS Capital based in Saudi Arabia, said that the market had already anticipated the agreement last week, so the reaction in the Saudi Arabian market was subdued on Monday. The Saudi Arabian benchmark index closed down 0.1%, while the Qatar QE index rose by 0.9%. The UAE stock exchange was closed for a public holiday.
