The Network Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security releases typical cases of illegal criminal offenses involving infringement of citizens' personal information.
On June 11, the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security released typical cases of illegal violations of citizens' personal information, exposing three common types of crimes. The first is to take advantage of personal carelessness and urgency, such as luring victims to complete real-name authentication and fill in sensitive information after being induced by "part-time recruitment" before reselling the information. The second is the "neglect" of security responsibilities by information processors, with some platforms and companies having lax internal management, leading to massive data being stolen and resold due to "moles" or technical vulnerabilities. The third is the illegal acquisition under the name of "precision marketing", where some technology companies illegally collect and exchange citizens' personal information by falsely promoting business and data analysis. In response to this, the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security reminds information processors to strictly fulfill their legal obligations, improve personal information protection regulations and technical measures, and safeguard the security of citizens' personal information. At the same time, the general public should properly store, manage, and use personal information, and if they discover clues of personal information leakage, they should promptly report to the public security agencies and relevant departments, using legal weapons to defend their rights and interests.
