On June 10th local time, according to the US "Axios" news website, the direct trigger for the US military's strike on Iran was the crash of a US military helicopter, but US President Trump was increasingly dissatisfied with Iran's lack of response to US proposals on the agreement for the past two weeks. The report stated that the US believes that this strike will help restore US leverage in negotiations, while not completely closing the door to diplomatic solutions. It was disclosed that after a White House Situation Room meeting on May 29th, Trump requested modifications to the previously agreed US-Iran understanding memorandum. According to the new requirements, Iran must dilute enriched uranium within 60 days and promise not to levy tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In exchange, the US agrees that relevant nuclear materials can remain in Iran for processing and accept supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The report indicated that under Qatari mediation, the US and Iran continue to have indirect contact. US officials stated that the agreement is still on the table, but if Iran continues to delay, Trump is prepared to make Iran "pay the price."
