Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates admitted during a hearing before a small group committee of the U.S. House of Representatives that his multiple meetings with the notorious financier Jeffrey Epstein, who has since died, were a "serious error in judgment." Gates emphasized that if his close relationship with Epstein at the time objectively provided him with political or social credibility, he feels "deeply responsible and apologetic" about it. Gates revealed during the hearing that after cutting off all contact with the financier, Epstein maliciously used "sensitive and intimate information about my personal life that he had obtained" to extort him, attempting to force him back into his inner social circle.
