Suspected Ebola cases in the Republic of Congo have been significantly reduced.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Congo released a report on June 2, stating that as of the 1st, there were still 116 suspected cases of Ebola under investigation in the country, a significant decrease from the total number of suspected cases reported earlier. World Health Organization spokesperson Lindmeier said on the 2nd that this is mainly because a large number of suspected cases that were initially included in the statistics due to similar early symptoms have been excluded after testing and verification. According to a report released by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Congo on May 27, as of May 26, the country had identified a cumulative total of 1077 suspected cases of Ebola. Lindmeier told the media in Geneva on the 2nd that in this current outbreak, individuals who are identified through monitoring or seeking medical care with symptoms similar to Ebola virus infection are initially classified as suspected cases; later, after laboratory testing, some suspected cases are confirmed, while many others are proven to have malaria, meningitis, or other diseases, and are therefore removed from the suspected case statistics.
