State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: The DPP authority surrenders to the United States and will only suffer the consequences.

On June 3rd, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. A reporter asked about the recent announcement by the United States regarding the non-semiconductor Section 232 tariff preference measures granted to Taiwan in the Taiwan-US investment MOU, which took effect on May 1st. These measures include tariffs on automobile parts, raw wood, lumber, and wood derivatives not exceeding 15%. The Taiwanese administrative department stated that the benefits obtained by Taiwan are consistent with those of the European Union, Japan, and South Korea, and will help improve the competitiveness of related industries. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian answered the question, stating that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have knelt to the United States, selling out Taiwan's core industries, sacrificing the prospects of Taiwan's industrial development, and harming the interests and well-being of the Taiwanese people. These concessions, including $50 billion of investments in the United States, zero tariffs on 4885 industrial products, and 1482 agricultural products, have only resulted in symbolic tariff preferences. The DPP authorities shamelessly boast about this as their accomplishment, which is completely self-deception. Such a misguided approach cannot deceive Taiwan's industrial circles and people, and will only lead to self-destruction and becoming a laughing stock.
