Caution has become Wall Street's most expensive mistake. This week, U.S. inflation data was hot, with the annual inflation rate reaching its highest level in about three years. At the same time, there is renewed conflict in the Persian Gulf region, and market expectations of the Fed possibly maintaining a tight monetary policy continue to ferment. However, U.S. stocks have continued their longest weekly streak of gains since 2023 and have hit new highs. Junk bonds are rising, oil is falling, but the cost of insurance to prevent market sell-offs has dropped significantly.
