Ecuador will cancel the "security tax" imposed on Colombian products.

Ecuadorian President Daniel Novoa announced on 29th that starting from June 1st, the "security tax" imposed on Colombian products will be cancelled. Since the beginning of this year, conflicts between Ecuador and Colombia over border security and other issues have escalated. On January 21st, Ecuador announced a 30% "security tax" on imports from Colombia, which was gradually increased to 100%. In response, the Colombian government also announced that they would raise the tariff rates on imports from Ecuador to 100%. On May 4th, the Ecuadorian government stated that starting from June 1st, the "security tax" on imports from Colombia will be reduced from 100% to 75%.
