On May 26, the first synthetic cell technology roadmap in Asia was published in the international academic journal "Nature Biotechnology". The technology roadmap is led by Liu Chenli, a researcher at the Advanced Technology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was created in collaboration with more than 100 labs from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. This is the first systematic development blueprint drawn around "artificial synthesis of single-cell life" in Asia, marking new scientific coordinates for synthetic cell research in the next decade. The technology roadmap proposes the construction of an artificial intelligence-driven "biological foundry" using a "central factory + distributed workstations" model, where standardized chassis and reagents are prepared by a unified platform and countries work collaboratively on design, synthesis, and testing. The artificial intelligence integrates the "white box model" and "black box model" to help scientists more quickly identify the key rules for "cell-making".
