Nissan Motor Company has canceled its plan to manufacture electric vehicle (EV) powertrains in the UK. As part of its restructuring efforts, Nissan has decided to reduce the number of car factories both domestically and internationally, as well as to streamline production capacity. The production base for powertrains will also be adjusted. The subsidiary company Gedac, which was jointly developed with Nissan for EV powertrains, was originally planned to build a factory in Sunderland in central England by 2026 and supply to nearby Nissan car factories.
