Japanese media reported that the alliance of new members of the Liberal Democratic Party have conflicting goals.
The ruling party in Japan, the Liberal Democratic Party, established a new parliamentary alliance called the "National Power Research Association" on May 21. Out of the 417 LDP members in both houses of the Japanese Diet, 347 have joined the alliance. According to reports from Kyodo News, the true intention behind this alliance is to strengthen the base of Takaichi Sanae within the LDP and to strive for a "no-vote re-election" after her term as party leader ends in September next year. However, many members are actually "forced to take sides" and have to go along with the majority because they do not want to attract attention, leading to inconsistency in their support for Takaichi. It is questionable whether Takaichi will be able to secure re-election through this alliance.
