The Chinese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo reminds Chinese citizens in Congo to pay attention to preventing the Ebola epidemic.
On May 17, the World Health Organization announced that the Ebola outbreak in Congo had constituted an "international attention public health emergency", but did not reach the standard of "public health emergency of international concern" as specified in the International Health Regulations. As of May 16, Congo's Ituri Province had reported 8 confirmed cases, 246 suspected cases, and 80 suspected deaths. In addition, the World Health Organization reported that on the 16th, a person returning from Ituri Province to Kinshasa tested negative and was not considered a confirmed case. The Chinese Embassy in Congo reminded Chinese citizens in Congo to closely monitor the development of the epidemic, enhance their awareness of prevention, take responsibility for their own health, and strengthen personal hygiene protection. Do not travel to Ituri Province and surrounding areas with extremely high security risks, try to minimize unnecessary outings and inter-regional movements, and avoid going to crowded places. Avoid physical contact with confirmed patients and suspected infected individuals, and if you feel unwell, seek medical treatment at a regular hospital.
