The Hong Kong Special Administrative Government has activated the Ebola virus disease alert and response level.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 17th that it has activated a state of readiness under the "Ebola Virus Preparedness and Response Plan" to safeguard the health of its citizens. The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of Hong Kong stated that it has proactively requested further information from the World Health Organization, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the health authorities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
