The Guangdong PPI rose for the first time after 38 consecutive months of decline.

According to the data released by the Guangdong Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics, in April, influenced by the rising international energy prices and the improvement of supply and demand relationships in some industries, the producer price index (PPI) of Guangdong's industrial products turned from a decrease to an increase year-on-year, and showed a significant increase month-on-month. The data shows that in April, Guangdong's PPI increased by 1.4% year-on-year, compared to a decrease of 0.3% the previous month, marking the first increase after 38 consecutive months of decline; it also increased by 1.3% month-on-month. On average from January to April, Guangdong's PPI decreased by 0.6% compared to the same period last year, with a narrowing drop of 0.6 percentage points compared to the average from January to March; industrial production index (IPI) turned from a decrease of 0.1% on average in January to March, to an increase of 0.7%.
