In April, Beijing's CPI increased month-on-month, with a larger year-on-year increase.
Data released by the Beijing survey team of the National Bureau of Statistics on the 12th showed that in April this year, the month-on-month consumer price index of Beijing residents turned from a decline to an increase, and the year-on-year increase expanded. From a year-on-year perspective, the CPI in Beijing rose by 0.6% in April. In terms of food, pork, fresh fruits, and fresh vegetables prices decreased by 17.0%, 5.2%, and 3.4% respectively, while egg and aquatic product prices both decreased by 0.8%; lamb, beef, and poultry prices rose by 5.3%, 4.5%, and 1.8% respectively. In terms of non-food items, prices of industrial consumer goods rose by 2.6%, with gasoline prices increasing from 3.6% last month to 19.0%, while the price increase for gold jewelry fell to 45.9%; service prices rose by 0.7%, with airfare and travel agency fees both turning from a decrease last month to an increase, with increases of 16.9% and 4.7% respectively. The data shows that in April, the industrial producer price index in Beijing decreased by 1.7% year-on-year and by 0.1% month-on-month; while the industrial purchase price index rose by 0.3% year-on-year and by 1.1% month-on-month.
