The United Nations Refugee Agency stated on May 1st that due to the situation in the Middle East, including disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, the cost of transporting some aid materials has increased and the delivery of aid materials has been delayed. Specifically, aid materials that were previously transported through the Strait of Hormuz from Dubai had to change routes, resulting in a doubling of transportation costs. The UN Refugee Agency also mentioned that besides disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, congestion issues at major ports including Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, as well as significantly increased war risk insurance costs, have exacerbated transportation pressures and hindered the timely delivery of aid materials.
