On the evening of April 28, 2026, BYD issued an official announcement stating that due to the increase in global storage hardware costs, the company will raise the prices of certain optional versions of intelligent driving assistance for some of its models. The adjustments will officially take effect on May 1. The price adjustments will affect the Wangchao Net, Ocean Net, and Equation Leopard series models, involving the optional cost of the Eye of Heaven B assisted driving laser version, which will be adjusted from 9,900 yuan to 12,000 yuan. To cushion the impact of the policy, consumers who paid a deposit and placed an order before April 30, 2026, can still use the original pricing without being affected by this price adjustment. Industry insiders explain that since the fourth quarter of 2025, the Chinese auto market has bid farewell to aggressive "price wars" and entered a phase of structural price adjustments. On one hand, leading brands like Tesla and WENJI have indirectly increased consumers' actual purchase costs by tightening financial benefits and time-limited subsidies. On the other hand, since the first quarter of 2026, local automakers led by BYD and GAC Aion have adopted a more direct price adjustment model, with the guide prices of their main models increasing by thousands of yuan. Brands like Li Xiang have increased their starting prices by thousands of yuan through annual model upgrades to include intelligent driving standard equipment. This round of collective price increases reflects a deep transformation of the industry's competitive logic from "losing money to gain market share" to "returning to profitability." It also reflects that as the trend of standardizing intelligent driving hardware continues, carmakers are facing a more severe reevaluation of supply chain costs.
