Layoffs continue in the gaming industry, with nearly half of developers considering resigning due to job instability.
In the past few years, layoffs have become the norm in the gaming industry. Just this year, Epic laid off 1000 developers, while Montreal Eidos Studio, Crystal Dynamics Studio, and others also laid off employees last month. With major publishers like Ubisoft constantly promoting "layoffs are the only way for company development", game developers inevitably feel a lack of job security. Now, a new study shows that nearly half of professionals in the industry want to leave their jobs due to this unstable situation. Recruitment company Skillsearch pointed out in a new study that 44% of developers in the gaming industry want to leave their jobs due to massive layoff plans. The study interviewed 1000 professionals in the global gaming industry, covering various fields such as programming, art, and design.
