The Swiss Business Roundtable was held in Bern on April 17. Ling Ji, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, presided over the event. Ambassador Qian Minjian of the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland delivered a speech. 25 companies such as Siemens, Medtronic, UBS, Nestle, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, and Sanofi, as well as representatives from the China-Switzerland Economic Association, attended the meeting. Ling Ji stated that the implementation of China's "15th Five-Year Plan" not only provides extensive cooperation opportunities for multinational companies investing in China, but also injects stability and certainty into the turbulent and complex world economy. He hoped that Swiss companies would combine their advantages in industries such as biopharmaceuticals, high-end manufacturing, financial services, and research and development with China's complete and efficient production and supply chains, good innovation ecosystem, and abundant talent resources to promote a new level of innovation in Sino-Swiss strategic partnership. Representatives of the attending companies expressed that the current unilateralism and protectionism are seriously impacting global production and supply chains. China's commitment to openness, continuous improvement of the business environment, and economic resilience and vitality make investing in China a necessary choice for companies to enhance their global competitiveness. Strengthening cooperation with China has become a common consensus among the Swiss business community. During the meeting, the Chinese side responded to the issues of government procurement, localization of innovative drugs production, export controls, intellectual property protection, and production and supply chain security that Swiss companies are concerned about one by one.
