Swiss Enterprise Roundtable to be held in Bern.
On April 17, the Swiss Business Roundtable was held in Bern. Ling Ji, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Chief Negotiator for International Trade, presided over the event, and Qian Minjian, Ambassador of China to Switzerland, delivered a speech. Representatives from 25 companies including Siemens, Novartis, UBS, Nestle, Roche, GKN, and Sanofi, as well as representatives from the Sino-Swiss Economic Association, attended the meeting.
Ling Ji stated that the implementation of China's "15th Five-Year Plan" not only provides vast cooperation opportunities for multinational companies investing in China, but also injects stability and certainty into the turbulent and complex world economy. He hoped that Swiss companies would combine their advantages in biopharmaceuticals, high-end manufacturing, financial services, and R&D innovation with China's complete and efficient production supply chain, a good innovation ecosystem, and rich talent resources, to further enhance the strategic partnership of innovation between China and Switzerland.
Representatives from attending companies expressed that the current unilateralism and protectionism seriously impact the global production supply chain, while China maintains openness, continuously improving the business environment. They stated that with its resilient and dynamic economy, investing in China is a necessary choice for companies to enhance their global competitiveness, and strengthening cooperation with China has become a common consensus in the Swiss business community.
During the meeting, the Chinese side addressed issues of concern to Swiss companies, such as government procurement, localization of innovative drug production, export controls, intellectual property protection, and production supply chain security.
