Iran's battle is a boomerang striking American farmers.
The "boomerang" of the US government's provocation of the Iran conflict is now hitting American farmers hard. The Strait of Hormuz carries one-fifth of the global oil transport volume and about one-third of global maritime fertilizer trade. About 35% of the US fertilizer relies on imports, including phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers from the Middle East. This planting season, due to the impact of the Middle East situation, the prices of domestic energy and fertilizers in the US have risen significantly, further burdening American farmers who are already struggling with the impact of Trump administration's tariff policies and low agricultural prices.
