Sudan Mineral Resources Company issued a statement on the 15th, saying that a traditional manually operated gold mine in the eastern Red Sea state of the country collapsed on the 14th, resulting in at least 7 miners dead and 6 miners injured. The statement said that the collapse occurred at the Kailiti mine in the Ganabu and Oribo districts, but did not mention the cause of the accident. After the incident, the Sudan Mineral Resources Company's rescue team and civil defense personnel quickly arrived at the scene to handle the situation. The injured have been taken to hospital, and search and rescue work is still ongoing. Witnesses told Xinhua reporters that the mine is located on a mountainside and has completely collapsed, with the exact number of trapped miners unclear. Currently, search and rescue operations are only being conducted in the shallow areas, and there may still be a large number of trapped people in the deep parts of the mine.
