State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: Adhering to the "One China" principle and opposing "Taiwan independence" is the foundation for communication and dialogue between the two sides.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. Spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that adhering to the "92 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence" are the foundation of cross-strait communication and dialogue. The stubborn adherence of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities to the "Taiwan independence" position and continuous provocations are the biggest actual threat to cross-strait relations and peace in the Taiwan Strait. We are willing to, on the basis of adhering to the "92 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence", strengthen exchanges and dialogues with all parties, groups, and individuals in Taiwan, including the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT), and firmly control the future of cross-strait relations in the hands of the Chinese people.
