IBM paid a settlement fee of 17 million dollars to settle the lawsuit filed by the US Department of Justice's DEI project. According to the settlement agreement, IBM has to pay 17,077,043 dollars, covering civil fines and other fees. IBM did not admit any wrongdoing in the settlement, and the agreement explicitly states: "This agreement does not represent IBM admitting responsibility, nor does it mean that the US government acknowledges that its accusations are unfounded."
