United Nations agency: Humanitarian crisis in Haiti deteriorating sharply, more than half of the population urgently in need of assistance

On the 10th local time, Mark Lowcock, official of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, stated that Haiti is facing a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis. Currently, about 6.4 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, accounting for more than half of the country's population, with 5.7 million people in a state of severe food insecurity. Approximately 90% of the areas in the capital, Port-au-Prince, are controlled by armed groups, with about 1.45 million people displaced nationwide. Approximately 1,600 schools have closed due to security issues, affecting around 250,000 children's education.
