The report shows a significant increase in US consumer inflation expectations in March.
According to a survey report released by the World Large Enterprise Research Association, a research institution in the United States, on March 31, the median of American consumers' inflation expectations for 12 months from now in March was 5.2%, significantly higher than February's 4.5%. The main reason for the significant increase in consumer inflation expectations is the sharp rise in oil prices due to the US military actions against Iran. Additionally, the report also shows that the consumer confidence index for March was 91.8, slightly higher than February's 91.0. This is the second consecutive month of moderate improvement in the index, but the data has been in an overall declining trend since 2021.
