The main export port on the West Coast of Australia, which handles iron ore, liquefied natural gas, and other bulk commodities, has reopened after being closed due to damage from a hurricane. According to the port operator, Dampier Port operated by Woodside Energy Group Limited resumed operations on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, but all ordinary cargo imports are still suspended. The nearby Ashburton Port (which services Chevron's Wheatstone LNG plant) remains closed. Hurricane "Narelle" disrupted the operations of mines and liquefied natural gas facilities in the northern and western coastal regions of Australia. The production of three LNG plants operated by Woodside and Chevron has been reduced, exacerbating supply tensions for Asian buyers at a time when the global natural gas market is becoming fragile.
