Floods in multiple parts of Kenya have resulted in the deaths of 88 people.
According to the notification from Kenya's Ministry of Interior, since March, heavy rainfall in multiple areas of Kenya has caused serious flooding, resulting in 88 deaths and over 34,000 people being displaced. The notification stated that on the 23rd, heavy rain caused two rivers in western Kenya to breach their banks, inundating nearby farmland and roads. Currently, at least 21 counties in the country have been affected by the floods, with Nairobi County having the highest number of fatalities at 37. The local meteorological department has stated that intermittent rainfall is expected in some areas in the future, with a continued high risk of landslides and flooding.
