Namibia rejected the "Starlink" license application citing security concerns.
The Namibian regulatory agency announced on the 24th that it has officially rejected the application for a telecommunications service license and radio frequency spectrum access permit for the satellite internet system "Starlink" owned by the American space exploration technology company. The reason is that it has not met various legal requirements regarding ownership, national security, and compliance records. Tuli Mevava Mufeti, chairman of the Namibian Telecommunications Regulatory Board, said at a press conference held in the capital Windhoek that the applicant met requirements in terms of market competition, technology and financial capability, and availability of frequency resources, but failed to meet relevant legal requirements regarding ownership, national security, and compliance records, therefore not meeting the conditions for approval.
