March 21st is International Forest Day. On the 20th, it was announced by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration that China's forest area has reached 3.614 billion mu, with a national forest coverage rate of 25.09% and a forest reserve volume of 209.88 billion cubic meters. China's forest area and reserve volume have achieved double growth for 40 consecutive years, making it the country with the most rapid increase in greenery in the world. It is reported that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China has initiated and implemented major projects for the protection and restoration of important national ecosystems, continuously strengthening the ecological security barrier of the "three zones and four belts". Over the course of five years, a total of 549 million mu of land has been afforested, 4.344 million mu of wetlands have been restored, and 152 million mu of desertified land has been treated. The area of desertified and desert land continues to decrease, leading the world in achieving zero growth in land degradation. Currently, the annual value of ecosystem services for China's forestry and grassland ecosystems exceeds 30 trillion yuan.
