Old nuclear power plants in Japan restart and encounter malfunctions again.
Tokyo Electric Power Company stated on March 13th that Unit 6 of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, which just restarted in January, experienced a generator insulation failure and triggered an alarm. The company decided to suspend power generation and transmission that day to investigate the cause of the malfunction. Tokyo Electric Power Company stated that the reactor of Unit 6 is still operating, and there have been no significant fluctuations in equipment parameters or generator output power, and no radioactive material has leaked outside. Unit 6 of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant was restarted on January 21st of this year. This is the first restart of a nuclear power plant under the company since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident caused by the 2011 "3.11" Great East Japan Earthquake.
